Thailand, how I so excited for this opportunity to serve in Thailand in whatever context that God has planned for us. He is going before us to Thailand and will show up and have the perfect plan for us. Please join me and my team in praying over Thailand and the ministry we serve with as well as the people we meet!

Language: The official language of Thailand is Thai and its spoken by a majority of the people who live there. About 30% of Thailand’s population speaks Thai. However, this language can be divided into several other different languages such as, Phu Thai, Shan, Song, Isan, Southern Thai, Nyaw, Northern Thai, Phuan and Lu.

Religion: 95% of the country is Theravada Buddhism

Population:

  • 63.4 million people

Unique Animals:

  • Binturong- A Binturong is often referred to as a bearcat because of its similar look alike to both animals. This is a strange, but unique animal. This animal is shy, but what is very rare and unique about it is that people can spot them by their scent, which some say smell like popcorn!

The strange-looking binturong

  • Pangolin- Sadly this unique and cute animal is becoming less and less because traffickers like to smuggle them into china for traditional medicine. These animals have a hard outer shell and their defense mechanism is to curl into a ball.

  • Gibbons- Gibbons are apes that are amazing tree swingers. They can swing as far as 15m in one swing and at a speed of 55 km per hour. It might not be easy to spot them while swinging in trees, but their call is easily recognizable and can be heard up to a kilometer away.

  • Whale Sharks- These animals are completely harmless and are found in the Thai waters. Whale Sharks are incredible to swim alongside and diving offers an unforgettable expereince along this spectacular creature.

Thailand also has: Elephants, Manta Rays, King Cobra, Tokay gecko, Tigers, Bears, and Asian monitor lizard

Special Foods:

  • Tom Yum Goong (Spicy Shrimp Soup)- This is a versatile dish that can fit within any virtually meal. The spice in the soup just screams ‘Thailand’!

Tom Yum

  • Pad Thai (Thai style Fried Noodles)- This is the default international Thai dish! It is dropped in a searing hot wok, fistfuls of small, thin or wide noodles. It has been said that this dish is a “truly interactive eating experience.”

  • Kai Med Ma Muang (Chicken with Cashew Nuts)- This dish is to be known as a tourists favorite. They go nuts over it 🙂

Cool Geography:

  • Thailand’s terrain includes very high mountains in the north that extend southward along its Burma border to the northern edges of Malaysia.

  • Thailand’s fertile central plain is dominated by the Chao Phraya River. This river flows for 231 miles.

Prayer- Father, while we are in Thailand I pray that we can be your hands in feet. That when people see us, they see you. We pray that spiritual healing and renewal floods over thailand. I pray that whatever is hiding in the dark, is brought to light and that healing can begin. Let only your light shine. From the start of our month all the way to the end, do something in people’s hearts that can’t be explained. Be uncontrollable and unexplainable. And when it gets hard, let us all remember to breathe and put our trust in you. Let your will be done for this country, for these people and for our team.
