Snow day update! We are on day 8 of not going to school due to sub-zero temps and ridiculous amounts of snow, and we still have a day off tomorrow. So in January 2020, Kristin you’re not allowed to complain about the 40-degree weather you are having in Nepal! That’s like a heatwave! 🙂
So what better timing then to sit down and write another blog. Currently experiencing writers block on anything creative and eye opening, so I figured I would tell you about this amazing retreat I got to help run this past weekend at Covenant Hills Camp. This year, for the first time in 3 years, we had snow at Winter Blitz and it was such an answer to prayers because I couldn’t fathom leaving the country without seeing a winter wonderland at camp!
Alright, moving past the snow and cold temps. I wanted to share some moments that I had and what the Lord taught me through them. First off, during one of our chapels, the speaker was giving an upper elementary level message on how we are created in the image of God. Something I have heard time and time again, but this time it was shared in a way that I had never heard before. And man, it stuck! Genesis 1:26 – God created man in His own image…
She shared a picture of her young son, and how this was just an image of her son, not actually her son. But this image was a representation of her son to those of us who did not know him. I don’t know if you’re following yet, so let me break it down some more. From the verse in Genesis, it says that we are made in the image of God, we are Him image bearers, we get to be the representation of our Father on this Earth since He is no longer “physically man” here.
How cool is that?! We get to represent the Father to those who do not know Him here on Earth. She shared that we can do that anywhere. At our desks in math class, at a restaurant, at our work, in our homes, literally anywhere. You guys. It just hit me, we have such a gift to be made in the image of our Father, like some of us look like our earthy fathers, but all of us look like our Heavenly Father. Let’s show the world our Father, starting with those we come in contact with every day, moving to those we may only see for a brief moment, and onto the world.
I challenge you to ask Him who you can show Him to. Maybe it is a coworker, a neighbor, a sibling, a child, an elderly person, or anyone in between. Once He has shared with you who you can show Him to, share that. Tell a friend, a spouse, a sibling. And then go to prayer. Pray for every moment that you interact with that person that you are genuinely reflecting in the image of God.
He was also speaking to my WR journey as I belayed kids up the rock wall for 5 hours, especially 3 instances with 3 different 5th grade boys. If you get a chance, ask me about those belaying experiences. I would love to share them with you!
–On Belay? Belay is on. Climbing. Climb on!
Fundraising update as well: I am about 30% funded, which puts me past my first goal of $5,000! I cannot say thank you enough for all of you who have partnered with me financially or bought bracelets! We were also able to raise over $1,000 for the women who made those bracelets in the Philippines. You guys, God is so faithful! I have a desire to be over 75% funded by the time I launch in June which means I still need to raise $10,000. The Lord is good and I know if He makes a way, the funds will come. I continue to pray that the Lord will speak to your hearts and partner with the Kingdom Work happening all around the world already!
I will be having a spaghetti supper coming up probably in March so if you would like to come to that check my FB or watch your emails for updates on that! I will also be doing a garage sale in April and May so if you would like to donate items to that as you are “Marie Kondo-ing” your life let me know, I can come pick it up!
As always, Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
