I want to blog. I really do. But every time I sit down to write something down about what I’m either experiencing or the Lord is doing my mind just goes HUH?!. So. India. Ethiopia. Morocco. Spain. Boston. It’s been so long since I’ve updated you all. I am truly sorry. I know blogging is a ministry in itself and I have not been pressing into it like I should have. There are many stories and I just haven’t shared them. So here is a quick overview before I start to share my stories. Back in early September we had a quick layover in Boston, MA after finishing three months in Central America. It was so good for my soul. Then we went to Spain for a week long debrief. Debrief is when we sit back and evaluate what it is that we’ve been doing and where we are headed. It’s a time to be refreshed and brought together in community as a squad. We have a lot of teachings and are poured into by our leadership team. Our alumni team leaders passed off their batons to current squad mates and we went on our way across the straits of Gibraltar to Africa. Our time in Casablanca, Morocco was some of the hardest, most beautiful times during the race. I have so many stories about what’s happening in that closed, Muslim nation and out of respect for those that are serving I will wait to share those stories. I will just say this though, if the Lord calls me back to Morocco one day I wouldn’t be disappointed!! We got new teams and it was a blessing in disguise for the whole squad, we needed a little shake up. Then we traveled to Ethiopia for an all squad month living on a compound in a children’s village home. It was so good. We worked with orphans and semi orphans. And if you know anything about me, that has been my biggest dream in missions is to work in an orphanage. That month we did everything from cutting grass, planting trees, hoeing gardens, running sport camps, cooking with the kitchen ladies, playing with the shepherd boys, lots of soccer, and holding babies. It was a dream, I’ve never felt more myself on the race! Now we’re almost done with our time in India, which is wild. We’ve been living in a rural village church/home for semi orphan boys. Each night we head out into neighboring villages preaching and praying, sometimes on street corners, sometimes in house churches, sometimes in actual church buildings. Going on prayer walks and making friends with our neighbors. Loving on our 8 little brothers every chance we can get. Doing VBS and singing ALLLL the camp songs. We had PVT meaning Parent Vision Trip where our parents had the opportunity to come and visit us on the field. My mom came to India. It was such a sweet treat in between the holiday seasons. (Hey mom wanna write a guest blog about your time here?) We have 4 more days in our little village home and I’m trying to soak up every moment here and choose into the little moments before we head back to the city to fly to Nepal. Next month my team and I will be in another closed country, but just know that we are stoked to work with UPGs (unreached people groups) and experience some cold weather. Stay tuned, I’m thinking about deleting social media for the duration of the race so if you want to see what’s going on with the race, be sure to subscribe to my blog by clicking the subscribe button. And I promise to post more and share photos of life on the race!! All the love, KJ
Great blog. I think Mom should write a blog as well. Thanks for sharing the update about all you have been doing.
So happy to see this and know that you will be sharing more. I know from experience and from our time together in India that the Lord is moving in and through you and your fellow racers. As for doing a guest blog would love to but you know technology and me are not friends. Dad and I are anxiously awaiting every morsel that you post and share. Keep em coming sista??
OXOXOXO Mom
Kristin, how awesome that I got to meet both you and your mother during PVT. I prayed for travel companions and got 3 sweet women of steel to travel with. What a ride that was!
Since returning home, I love seeing videos of you all dancing with the boys that I got to meet, laughing and running through the streets at night, and just living life with complete abandonment. It’s beautiful to witness such hearts full of love. My prayers follow you to Nepal.
This is good! So good to hear your thoughts and have a catch up now on the race! I truly would love to see your mom do a guest blog I think that would be an amazing thing and I’ll try to get my mom to do the same! I look forward to see how the Lord continues to use you and grow you!
